100 babies die each year in the Lothians.
SANDS Lothians offers support to anyone who has been affected by the death of a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or soon after birth. We can offer advice and support with the practical issues in the early days such as arranging a funeral and making decisions about burial or cremation. We also offer emotional support for the weeks, months and years ahead for as long as required.
A comprehensive befriending and counselling service is offered by way of individual appointment in the Edinburgh based office and regular support meetings are held in Edinburgh, West Lothian and East Lothian.
We work closely with health professionals in the Simpson Centre for Reproductive Health in Edinburgh and the Maternity Department of St John’s Hospital in Livingston. We also accept referrals from health professionals in the community.
