We are Scotland’s voice for epilepsy. Since 1954 Epilepsy Scotland has provided advice, information, support and services to the people in Scotland who have epilepsy together with their families and carers.
Epilepsy is one of the world most common serious neurological conditions, affecting some 40,000 children and adults in Scotland. It can affect anyone regardless of age, sex or race.
We are a lifeline for people who need information and advice through our freephone helpline and information service on 0808 800 2200, training and literature.
We provide a variety of direct support and information services including: a one to one Community Outreach Service in Edinburgh and Glasgow; our Lighthouse Youth Project, which provides group and individual support for young people; sensitive training on epilepsy issues to parents and individuals; advice and counselling; holistic therapy; high profile policy and campaigning work and a range of accredited training courses.
We aim to influence health service development to ensure that people with epilepsy will receive uniformly high standards of medical care; fight discrimination and social stigma and ensure up-to-date and relevant information and support are available to people with epilepsy and those involved in their care.
Our work is also assisted by our Patron the Baroness Veronica Linklater of Butterstone and other celebrity supporters, along with Ambassadors who have epilepsy themselves.
